Minutes after Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) declared the 18-part crew for the T20 World Cup 2021, Rashid Khan took to Twitter to report his choice to surrender his captaincy with prompt impact.

“The choice council and ACB (Afghanistan Cricket Board) has not gotten my assent for the group which has been reported by ACB media. I’m bringing the choice of venturing down from the job as chief of Afghanistan T20 side taking effect right now.
“It’s forever my pride playing for Afghanistan.” Rashid Khan said in an assertion via web-based media.
Rashid Khan was named Afghanistan’s T20I captain in July this year, with Najibullah Zadran named as his agent. Strikingly, Rashid had unequivocally communicated his reluctance to take up the job as he felt the weight of captaincy would influence his game.
