After thrashing Sri Lanka at Mohali, Team India will gear up for their fourth Pink Ball Test match and their first against Sri Lanka. India has played three Day Night matches till now. They have won against Bangladesh and England at home. While they have lost against Australia, their lowest Test score of 36 came at that venue against the Aussies in 2020.

But after that, it was an amazing turnaround then for India as they won their second back-to-back series Down Under. Talking about this Test series against the Lankans, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin ruled the first Test match.

Both the spin bowling all-rounders were superb with the bat and bowl. Jaddu scored his career-best score of unbeaten 175 runs, and Ashwin went past 434 Test wickets. The current all-rounders overtook the legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev in the last game.

India scored a mammoth score of 574 runs in their 1^st innings. The hosts batted just once and drove the visitors, Sri Lanka, out of the match completely. But still, they could have done better with the opening stand, especially after reaching the fifty-run mark.

India will go with Mayank Agarwal for this Test match, and they have other options like Priyam Garg and Shubman Gill. But the others might not get a nod for the Day-Night Test match starting tomorrow. India will be keen to give Agarwal another chance.

Hanuma Vihari looked as if he had owned the number three spot in Test matches. He brought the same calmness to the innings as Chesteshwar Pujara did for India earlier.

The 57 run knock will give Vihari a lot of confidence for the next matches to come. Virat Kohli is the only Indian to score a century in the Pink Ball Test matches. He did it against Bangladesh in 2019.

In his 100^th Test match, Kohli looked good in his 45 run knock. But his 71^st international hundred still has to wait. The M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru is like a home ground for him, and Kohli will look to break his jinx here.

Rishabh Pant was good with his fluent 96 runs, and Ravi Ashwin also scored a valuable 61 runs. But Jadeja played an impactful innings of 175 not out. He could have scored his maiden double hundred as well.

But the declaration did not allow him to do so. Then the bowlers ripped the Sri Lankan poor batting lineup apart twice, and both times, the visitors didn’t even manage to cross the two hundred runs even once.

Sri Lanka seeks answers through their batting department, mainly after their flop show in Mohali. The batters had no answers to India’s spin and swing dominance. The visitors should include Dinesh Chandimal instead of Lahiru Thiramane.

Pathum Nisanka looked good in the first innings as the number three batter. He can open the innings with Dimuth Karunaratne and let Chandimal bat at the number three position.

Angelo Matthews and Dhanajaya de Silva need to contribute as experienced players to level the two-match Test series. Both of them got the starts in both the innings. But they failed to convert them.

Sri Lanka also needs Dushmantha Chameera’s pace and another spinning option with Lasik Embuldeniya. Praveen Jayawickrama can be included in the playing XI, while Lahiru Kumara and Vishwa Fernando should be dropped from the Day-Night Test match.
