SLK VS GUY MATCH 4

Match 4, Gros Islet, August 20, 2023, 04:30 AM

Right then, we are done for today. Two rain-affected games but the action continues in the eleventh edition of the Caribbean Premier League, 2023. We have another doubleheader coming for you with the first game played on Sunday 20th August. The Jamaica Tallawahs will take on the Barbados Royals at 7.30 pm IST (2.00 pm GMT) and the second game between Saint Lucia Kings and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots will start on Monday 21st August at 4.30 am IST (11.00 pm GMT, the previous day) but you can join us well in advance for the build-up. Until then, goodbye and cheers!
UPDATE - 8.19 am IST (2.49 am GMT) - The covers are firmly on and this does not look promising as we do not have much time to get this game completed. The umpires are now having a word with Darren Sammy, the coach of Saint Lucia Kings and Imran Tahir and they end the conversation with handshakes. We have official news that this match has been CALLED OFF as well! Another no result and the points will be shared between the two teams as the game is abandoned due to rain.
This has been a good burst of batting from Guyana Amazon Warriors as they had just 4.1 overs to face after the rain interval. Chandrapaul Hemraj and Saim Ayub struggled to get going right away and the former was dismissed by Chris Sole in his second over. Azam Khan and Saim Ayub began the onslaught thereafter scoring 18 and 19 runs respectively in the third and fourth overs while putting up a wonderful partnership of 42 runs in 16 balls for the second wicket. Jair McAllister bowled a remarkable first over in the Caribbean Premier League as he conceded just 7 runs and picked up the wicket of Azam Khan on the last ball. 56 runs were scored in the five overs and the target will be revised using the DLS Method but as the players walk off the field the rain has returned.

Azam shuffles across to flick this one but the ball sneaks through the gap between bat and pad and crashes into the stumps. Guyana Amazon Warriors end the innings on 56 for 2 in their 5 overs.

Jair McAllister begins with a short of a length delivery into the pitch. Ayub slaps this off the toe end toward mid off for a single.
Jair McAllister will bowl the final over of this inning. The unfortunate bit for Saint Lucia Kings is that they are fined for slow over rate and they will have to bring one fielder back inside the circle for the last over. Faf du Plessis does not look too happy and is pleading his case with the umpires but to no vain.
