Gujarat Titans beat Lucknow Super Giants by 56 runs
Right then, that is it from this game where Gujarat have registered a one-sided victory over Lucknow to strengthen their position at the top. However, the action in the Indian T20 League continues as we have another match coming our way between Rajasthan and Hyderabad which is already underway. So, switch tabs to enjoy all the coverage of that game. Cheers!
Shubman Gill is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his brilliant knock.
Earlier in the game, Krunal Pandya won the toss and opted to field on a hot afternoon and on a pitch that looks solid for batting. This decision backfired completely as Wriddhiman Saha went on a rampage and alongside Shubman Gill picked up 78 runs inside the Powerplay. Saha got to fifty and kept on coming at the bowlers before getting out. Hardik Pandya then came in and played a good cameo before Gill turned it on and went on to score an unbeaten 94 off just 51 balls to take Gujarat to a mammoth total of 227 runs. Lucknow didn't have a good outing with the ball but Avesh Khan showed good control and was fairly economical as well alongside Krunal Pandya but the rest of the frontline bowlers were all punished. Coming to the chase, Lucknow started off in sixth gear only to keep shifting gears down and down till they were blown off and Gujarat picked up an easy win.
Lucknow will be scratching their head because they had the platform laid down with the bat but have ended up losing the game by a huge margin. The new opening pair of Kyle Mayers and Quinton de Kock came out guns blazing and racked up 72 runs in the Powerplay. The pitch though slowed down a bit and it became difficult to get the boundaries away. Once Mayers fell, the scoring rate just took a nosedive. De Kock put up a fight and got 70 runs but no one else got going at all. The likes of Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran came and went and it was only Ayush Badoni who did get away a few lusty blows. In the end, the fall of wickets coupled with the pitch slowing down halted Lucknow's charge and they went on to suffer a big defeat.
Gujarat had a massive total on the board, the highest so far on this ground and all they needed was a decent start with the ball in the Powerplay. However, this wasn't the case as their bowlers were punished and conceded runs at an hemmoraghing rate. This changed once Mohit Sharma got rid of Kyle Mayers and the bowlers were able to squeeze the flow of runs. This in turn created wicket-taking opportunities and Gujarat managed to get those wickets as well. The spin duo of Noor Ahmad and Rashid Khan too got wickets but the former bowled much better. Mohit Sharma though did a brilliant job at the death as well and ended with 4 wickets.
A cakewalk of a win in the end for Gujarat and they keep their 100 percent win record against Lucknow in the Indian T20 League intact. With this victory, Gujarat also stretch their lead at the top of the table back to 3 points and improve their net run rate even further as well.

Sharp bowling! Alzarri Joseph bangs this onto the pitch again, on leg following the batter, Ravi Bishnoi ducks under it and then falls over in the process. He takes the review as he thinks it is a wide but the replay shows that it is a fair delivery and Lucknow loses their review.

OUT! TAKEN! Mohit Sharma strikes again! He gets his third wicket of the game! This is another slower delivery, full and on middle, Ayush Badoni tries to slog it away but is way early and only manages to get a top edge towards square leg where Noor Ahmad runs across, judges it well with the wind, and pouches it safely tumbling to the ground.
