CA also announced the women’s list for the 2022-23 season
Australian wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis earned his maiden central contract for the year 2022-23 as Cricket Australia announced the list of 20 contracted male players. Inglis, having made his international debut in February 2022 against Sri Lanka was handed his first-ever contract from the CA.
“The performances by Mitch Marsh, Usman, Travis, Scott, Marcus, and Mitch Swepson were pivotal in helping secure those successes and we are pleased they have retained their contracts for the upcoming year after being rewarded with upgrades throughout the past season,” said Men’s Chair of National Selectors George Bailey as quoted by Cricbuzz.
“We believe this group provides us great coverage and versatility across all formats while others, as we saw in the past year, will continue to get opportunities to play a big part. With a tour of Sri Lanka, a home World Cup, home summer and a tour of India there is an enormous amount of cricket to be played where the strength of our squads and depth will be challenged,” Bailey added.
The players who haven’t earned a contract this year can earn upgrades if they earn 12 upgrade points. For every Test match played, a player receives five points, followed by two points for a one-day international match, and one point for a T20 International game. If the players make their way into the team successfully to represent Australia, they can accrue the extra points.
“To contract just 20 players was challenging given the number of key series and the cycle of upcoming T20 and one-day World Cups, all of which will require varying skill sets and combinations,” Bailey concluded.

CA also announced the contracted women’s players list. Alana King, who impressed everyone on her debut game made her way into the Australian winning squad, playing for her team in her dream debut World Cup. She has earned her maiden contract for the upcoming year.
