India really deserves the WTC trophy? Yes but not more than Australia. Since the Australian players opted WTC instead of IPL. So this is the great lesson for India to concentrate on the World Cups and not on the IPL. The head coach of India Rahul Dravid also said that there is not enough time for the players to prepare for the WTC finals 2023 and also said that there are no excuses.
Why India Lose The WTC Trophy
The known reason is the missing of Rishab Pant, Shreyas Iyer & Bumrah. But the other thing is not capitalizing the momentum and exclusion of no 1 test bowler. Even the God of Cricket stated the exclusion of Ashwin is the wrong decision. But why didn’t Rohit Sharma not play him in the playing 11. Also, Rohit after the WTC loss said that 3 match series are needed for winning the trophy and June month is not the correct month and why the Oval ground, England is chosen? So all the questions were only raised but the Australian captain immediately reacted towards Rohit Sharma’s words. The main thing is why India didn’t win the WTC trophy only because of some decisions like this and missed the momentum on the day 4 and day 5 even after the Indian bowlers brought India back into the game.
Where India Missed WTC
On the day 4, Indian bowlers did their job and restricted Australia to less than 280 and it made them declare and initiate India to chase 444. When coming into the 4th innings India needed their openers to fire. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill started the innings with a healthy run rate of 6.5 but suddenly Gill was declared out with an arguable catch taken by Green. It created many doubts but finally declared out. And then Pujara also batted with a good intent and scored 3 boundaries. Unfortunately Rohit Sharma and Pujara got out in an unusual way. Then Rahane and Kohli added a 70 runs partnership for the 4th wicket and ended the day 4 on a positive note and it created a huge hope among the Indian fans. On the final day many buildups and talks were around Kohli since he was chase master. Kohli added only 5 runs on the day 5 and got out by chasing a wide offside delivery and a stunning catch taken by Steve Smith. Also Rahane added 16 runs on the day 5 and he also departed. Jadeje and Thakur can’t do more since the match is over when 6 wickets fall. The win predictor shows Australia have 85% of chance. Yes, they made it true and dominated India by 209 runs. Yes, this is the correct time to have changes in the Indian test team. Reputation is not only the criteria but young talents are waiting on the bench. If India needs to win the upcoming Trophies the team needs to be shuffled.
