What is the IPL Impact Player Rule?
According to the new impact player rule, each team will name 5 substitutes immediately after the toss in addition to their playing XI. At any time during the game team captain can bring the impact player. It is designed to ensure that each team has at least one game-changing player in its squad. The Impact Player Rule will also make it easier for teams to sign up high-quality players who can make a significant impact on the game.
When Can The Impact Player Be Introduced?
The IPL Impact Player Rule help teams to swap a player before the start of the match, end of an over, fall of a wicket, or when a batter retires. If the impact player is a bowler who comes in at the fall of a wicket, he is not allowed to bowl the remaining balls of the over. If a player gets injured, he can be replaced by an Impact Player.
Regulations Of IPL Impact Player Rule?
- The captain will inform the match official before making the change of impact player
- If a team plays with already 4 foreign players, the impact player should be an Indian player. If only 3 foreign players are there in the team then the impact player shall be foreign player
- Impact player change is not compulsory. If the team needs him they shall bring the impact player
- If the match reduced to 10 overs then the impact player rule is not applicable
