The BCCI has confirmed a slight change in the schedule of the upcoming series between Sri Lanka Vs India. According to the earlier fixtures released by the Indian Board, this tour of Sri Lanka to India in 2022 had no Pink Ball Test match, and Virat Kohli also would have played his 100th Test match at his favorite venue M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
But according to the new schedule released by the BCCI, Sri Lanka and India will play their first-ever Day-Night Test match in Bengaluru. Sri Lanka Tour of India 2022 consists of two test matches, which are also part of the World Test Championship (WTC) cycle of 2021 to 2023. The Lankans will also play three T20I series on this tour.
But now Mohali will host Virat Kohli’s 100th Test match, and the Pink Ball test match will be played at Bengaluru. The new fixtures of the Sri Lanka Tour of India 2022 say that India and Sri Lanka will start with the three T20I matches, and then the two teams will play the traditional format in Bengaluru and Mohali.
The three-match series of the shortest format will kick start at Lucknow on 24 February 2022. The other two T20I matches will be played at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium (HPCA) in Dharamshala. The last two T20I matches will be played on two back-to-back days, 26th and 27th February 2022.
The 1st Test match will be a red ball affair, and it will also be the 100th Test match of the former Indian skipper, Virat Kohli. The first Test match of the two-match Test series will begin on 4th March 2022, and the Sri Lanka Tour of India 2022 ends with the Day-Night Test match. This Pink Ball game will be the first one between Sri Lanka and India. It will be played from 12th to 16th March 2022.
Today India will play the second T20I match against West Indies, and on Sunday, India Vs West Indies will play the last game of the West Indies tour Of India 2022 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. India won the ODI series earlier, which was played against West Indies, and the home side leads the T20I series by a margin of 1-0.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka has lost the series of the shortest format against Australia on that tour. The last match of that T20I series will be played today.
