Slater will look to fight these charges in January next year.
Former Australian cricketer Michael Slater has been charged with criminal charges of assault and stalking/intimidating a woman. Last month, police were called to an alleged incident and Slater got arrested at the Manly police station in Sydney.
Michael Slater is a well-known face in Australian cricket as he scored 5312 runs in 74 Tests at an average of 42.83 while in 42 One Day Internationals, he scored 987 runs at a decent average of 24.07. Meanwhile, Slater was charged with domestic violence along with contravening an AVO. He was even ordered to spend a minimum of three weeks in a mental health unit. However, he avoided jail earlier the month as he was taken to the hospital for mental health reasons.
As per police statement, “About 9.20 pm (Tuesday 26 April 2022), officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command were called to a unit on West Promenade, Manly,” Police also added: “On arrival, police were told a 52-year-old man had allegedly assaulted a 35-year-old woman.’ On the basis of these allegations, Police were looking to arrest Michael Slater.”

Slater has been granted bail after fronting a magistrate with a condition that he did not contact the alleged victim or use any alcohol or illegal drugs. Charges were raised that he stalked or intimidated his ex-partner. He even used carrier services to harass her. However, all these alleged charges were squashed away on 27 May 2022 by the Waverley Local Court. Mr. Hudson told that the charges were “not too serious” to be dealt with under mental health legislation.
Earlier this month, he was rushed to hospital for mental health reasons after he faced the charges. Even a police prosecutor told the court that he was ‘detained’ by police and ambulance officers the previous night. For now, police have applied a violence order for protecting the alleged victim as Slater will look to fight these charges in January next year.
