Right then, that's all from this game where the winners of the 2020 edition, Bangladesh Under-19 registered their second win of the competition to seal their berth in the Super Six. It will be a Super Saturday on 27th January with three games in the 2024 Under-19 World Cup. Namibia will lock horns with Zimbabwe, South Africa will face Scotland and New Zealand will be up against Pakistan. All three games will begin at 1.30 pm GMT (8.00 am GMT), but our build-up will begin much sooner. Until then, take care and goodbye!
The skipper of Bangladesh Under-19, Mahfuzur Rahman says that the USA played pretty well. He continues that his batters are in good shape but they still need to improve their batting as Super Six is coming up next. He also states that their bowlers have given too much off extras in these couple of matches and they need to improve in that aspect. He ends by praising Ariful Islam and he hopes that Ariful can continue this and score more centuries in the upcoming matches.
The captain of USA Under-19, Rishi Ramesh says that it was a good start with the ball and credits the pacers for the way they bowled. Feels that they let it slip during the middle phase. Credits Prannav Chettipalayam for the way he started but feels that the batters got bogged down in the middle phase. Feels that fielding was one of the positives for them. Reckons that batting was an improvement from the last game. Ends by saying that they are excited and looking forward to play against India.
Ariful Islam is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his stellar ton. He says that he got starts in the last couple of games but was not able to convert a good score but he did in this match. He continues that the outfield was very fast which helped him in the innings to rotate the strike more. He also says that he is good with the reverse sweep and that's why he was playing it a lot. He ends up saying they are confident that they will do great in the Super Six stage.
Time for the presentation ceremony...
Earlier in the game, after being inserted into bat, Bangladesh Under-19 were off to a watchful start. Both openers got starts but failed to kick on, and it was the same story for Chowdhury Md Rizwan. Ariful Islam and Ahrar Amin then got together and kept ticking along nicely for Bangladesh. Both batters were content with knocking it around and made sure not to throw their wicket away. After reaching his fifty, Ariful changed gears and brought up his hundred in real quick time. However, Amin perished six runs short of his fifty. After Ariful fell, Md Shihab James took the mantle of taking the attack to the opposition and helped his side get to 291 via his quickfire 31-run knock. For the USA Under-19, Arya Garg was once again the star with three wickets while Aarin Nadkarni picked up a couple of wickets.
As for the USA Under-19, it was a valiant effort for them with the bat but they will be disappointed with how it all panned out towards the end. It was a shaky start for them in pursuit of 292 runs as Prannav Chettipalayam and Bhavya Mehta struggled to put bat to ball in the first few overs. Just as they were starting to come to terms with the pace and bounce of the surface, a mix-up led to the downfall of Mehta. Chettipalayam was undeterred by that incident and held firm at one end. He got the odd boundary away but his partner, Siddarth Kappa, struggled to find the boundaries. Chettipalayam brought up his fifty but gifted his wicket away to Bangladesh Under-19 in the form of a runout. Utkarsh Srivastava and Amogh Arepally then stitched a gritty stand and did well to hang in there. However, just as they were beginning to get a move on, Srivastava was dismissed. The USA Under-19 capitulated after that as they lost their last five wickets for just 17 runs to be bowled out for 170.
A convincing win for Bangladesh Under-19 as they breeze past USA Under-19 to book their place in the Super Six stage! USA Under-19 gave a good account of themselves but the Bangla Tigers proved just too good for them to hand them a 101-run defeat. With the ball, it was not the start Bangladesh Under-19 were hoping as Md Iqbal Hasan Emon and Maruf Mridha kept things quiet but failed to pick up early wickets. They got an early breakthrough in the form of a run out but then faced stiff resistance from Prannav Chettipalayam in particular. The spinners continued to keep the runs in check and it was again a run out that gave them an opening. Sheikh Paevez Jibon, Md Rafi Uzzaman Rafi and Ariful Islam combined well in the middle phase to keep a lid on the scoring rate. The skipper, Mahfuzur Rahman introduced himself late into the attack but took no time to get into the act. He simply ran through the USA lower order before Md Iqbal Hasan Emon came back and got the job done for his side.

OUT! CASTLED! The change has worked for Bangladesh Under-19! Md Iqbal Hasan Emon comes back into the attack and wraps things up! This one is a yorker, right into the block hole on off stump. Khush Bhalala is late to get his bat down in time. The ball zips in and sneaks under his bat to crash into the off stump. That's it, Bangladesh Under-19 win this match against USA Under-19 by 121 runs and they have booked their berth for the Super Six stage!
