Right then, that is it from this game where Bangladesh get the better of Netherlands for the third time in World Cups. However, the action continues as there is another match lined up where England is taking on Oman to stay alive in the tournament. That game will begin in a short while and you can just switch tabs to enjoy all the coverage of that match. Cheers!
Najmul Hossain Shanto, the victorious skipper of Bangladesh says that his team showed a lot of character. Adds that he liked Shakib Al Hasan's calmness while batting and he is happy for him. Tells that they did not know how the conditions would be or what score would be good to defend, but credits every bowler for their performance. Mentions that there was uneven bounce on the pitch but it was still good to bat on. Says that we all know how good Fizz is and he showed that again while Rishad Hossain was excellent as well.
Scott Edwards, the captain of Netherlands credits Bangladesh for the win and says that they were better in all three departments. Adds that they could not use the longer boundary while bowling and conceded 10-15 runs extra. Tells that they knew that Bangladesh has some good death bowlers and tried to score runs in the middle overs, but losing wickets at the wrong time cost them the game. Praises Aryan Dutt for his bowling effort and says it was the correct decision to include him in the team. Mentions that qualification is not in their hands anymore, so they will just look to enjoy and see what happens in the end.
Shakib Al Hasan wins the PLAYER OF THE MATCH award for his crucial knock. He says it was important for someone from the batting unit to score big. Adds it was not a winning total but a challenging one and later the bowlers bowled well to win. Tells they were not sure what the good score, they talked about keeping wickets in hand. Shares Netherlands were batting well but credit goes to their bowlers who came back strongly and got breakthroughs.
Presentation Time...
Earlier in the game, Bangladesh posted a good total on the board courtesy of a brilliant half-century from Shakib Al Hasan while Tanzid Hasan and Mahmudullah also contributed well. Aryan Dutt and Paul van Meekeren were the pick of the bowlers for the Dutch with a couple of wickets each while Tim Pringle chipped in with one. While chasin, Netherlands lost a couple of wickets early, but despite that got themselves in a good position. However, a big batting collapse after that cost them dearly in this game.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, have managed to defend this total but they did have a scare in the middle overs. They started well with Taskin Ahmed and Tanzim Hasan Sakib getting rid of both the openers early. Mahmudullah was called upon for one over and got a crucial breakthrough as well. However, it was their tall leggie, Rishad Hossain who made the difference in the end. He remained composed even after getting hit for a few, picked up three crucial wickets, including the big one of Sybrand Engelbrecht. Fizz was simply sensational with the ball and conceded just 12 runs in his entire spell and got one scalp as well.
Netherlands could not really utilise the Powerplay and lost both openers as well with not much on the board. It was the pair of Vikramjit and Sybrand Engelbrecht that steadied the ship for them with a crucial partnership but the former departed just as when he was starting to look dangerous. Then skipper Scott Edwards took responsibility and supported Sybrand Engelbrecht who was founding the boundaries at his will. They got them in a solid position but then lost two wickets in the same over which put them behind once again. They never really recovered from that and lost their skipper soon after. That was the nail in the coffin for them.
A crucial victory for Bangladesh! It was a professional performance from them and this means that, they are one step closer to the Super-8 stage now. Netherlands gave a tough fight but fell short in the end. Their qualification hopes gets slimmer, as now they need to beat Sri Lanka and hope that Bangladesh loses to Nepal. This result also means that the Lankans are officially out of this World Cup.

What an over! What a spell from the Fizz! Bowls it full and angles it across Pringle who for the 8th time fails to hit it away. A swing and a miss!
