Right then, that is it from this humdinger of a contest. The hosts have taken a 1-0 lead in this series. The action continues as we have one game still left. It will be played on Sunday, the 16th of July. The game will begin at 5.30 pm IST (12 pm GMT). But as you know, out build-up begins much sooner so do join us for the same. Until then, take care, and cheers!
Shakib Al Hasan the skipper of Bangladesh says that he trusted well in their tailenders to bat well. Adds that it was Shoriful's chance to finish the game and it is funny that how a T20 game excites the crowd. Ends by saying that he feels lucky to be on the winning side.
Towhid Hridoy is the Player of the Match for his excellent knock. He says that they took some momentum when he was batting with Shamim. Adds that they kept on rotating the strike and it gave them a bit of confidence. Ends by saying that he was confident for the team and he is happy to win the game.
Rashid Khan the skipper of Afghanistan says that the ground was a bit wet due to rain. Adds that it was a great effort from the team and the bowling was good as well. Says that Nabi's knock was excellent and ends by saying that they fell short of a few runs.
Stay tuned for Presentations...
Earlier in the match, it was Mohammad Nabi who scored an excellent half-century and made his side reach to a challenging total. Azmatullah Omarzai scored a quickfire 33 runs and supported him well. Shakib Al Hasan was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts as he chipped in with two wickets.
Well, it was a well-fought game from the Afghans. They started off well but lost momentum in the middle phase as their 13th over went on for 21 runs which turned the tide of the game. Also, Shamim Hossain was dropped in the 16th over. Fazalhaq Farooqi, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Azmatullah Omarzai, Rashid Khan , and Fareed Ahmad picked up a wicket each and Karim Janat picked up a hat-trick in the final over.
What a game! What a win! The momentum of the game swung like a pendulum from one corner to another and in the end, the hosts pulled out an amazing victory. They had a shaky start and were reeling on 39 for 3 inside 7 overs of play. The skipper then followed the suit in the 11th over. The 5th wicket partnership of Towhid Hridoy and Shamim Hossain was a crucial one as it made the game for the hosts. They lost the momentum again in the final over but Shoriful Islam pulled off the game and finished off the things in style with a boundary.
