But as you know, you can always join early for all the build-up. Until then, take care, and cheers!
Faf du Plessis, the victorious skipper of Saint Lucia Kings says that the pitch surprised him the way it played. Adds that they were just looking to take advantage of the Powerplay and build small partnerships after that and take the game deep and all of this was executed well. Says that Noor is a world-class bowler and he feels happy to not be an opponent to him. Credits Tim as well for his fantastic performance and acknowledges the performance from every player in his squad.
Chris Green, the skipper of Antigua & Barbuda Falcons says that they still have 6 games left and they will look to win all of them and start by winning the final game at home against such a brilliant home crowd. Reckons that Curtley Ambrose cares a lot for the side and he wants the best for every member of the team.
Noor Ahmad IS THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH. Noor says that it has been a pleasure playing here in the caribbean. Says that the pitches here help him. Reckons that even in the last game he bowled well but in this game, he bowled more in partnership and got rewarded for it with wickets.
Time for the presentations ceremony...
Earlier in the day, batting first, Antigua scored 142 with Justin Greaves and Imad Wasim contributing the most. Most of the batters of Antigua got starts but they failed to capitalize on it and got out at the wrong moment. The bowling though from the Kings was superb and they did not let the batter of Antigua break free completely at any junction of the game. Noor Ahmad was simply world-class with his spinners and took three.
The bowlers of Antigua & Barbuda Falcons did not have much to defend yet again but letting the opponent chase 142 in 17 overs and 7 wickets to spare isn't a good sign for the side. Antigua & Barbuda Falcons still remain winless after 4 games and they need King back before they start playing purely for pride. The fielding needs to improve as well for them. A lot of things in total to work on for Antigua & Barbuda Falcons. The pacers were wicketless for Antigua & Barbuda Falcons whereas the spinners took one each.
Chasing down a mediocre total of 142, the Saint Lucia Kings were off to a blistering start, thanks to their skipper Faf du Plessis who struck with a strike rate over 185. Johnson Charles played the anchor throughout the game and helped the young left-hander, Ackeem Auguste get some runs as well. Tim Seifert ended things in some style taking on the experienced Mohammad Amir in the 17th over. Johnson Charles was the best batter statistically for Antigua & Barbuda Falcons as he scored 47 runs off 46 balls.
A comprehensive victory in the end for Saint Lucia Kings and they are now two wins in two in CPL 2024. The target wasn't a big one for the Kings to chase and they did not need any more that 17 over to get over the line in this contest.
