Last position is definitely not the end
Ishant Sharma proved his worth and delivered a superb final over against Gujarat Titans, and Delhi Capitals won a thriller against table-toppers Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, yesterday (MAY 2, 2023).
DC Vs GT 2023 – Delhi Capitals Batting Woes Repeated
Initially, Mohammed Shami’s brilliant four-wicket haul and a collective bowling effort put Gujarat Titans on top by folding the DC with only 130 on the board. The new ball does the trick for Shami bagging 4 wickets and all are caught by Saha who had a memorable day behind the stumps. Delhi lost 4 wickets within 12 runs and all think that DC may get all out for less than 50 runs and will join a low-scoring club but it doesn’t happen. Sometimes unbelievable situations create wonderful players. This match created Aman Hakim Khan who scored a brilliant 50 with 3 sixes and 3 fours. Following that Axar Patel & Ripal Patel helped DC to reach the 130 mark on that difficult pitch
Delhi Capitals Bowlers Bossed The Match
Following that, the second innings started and all think it is going to be an easy chase without big troubles. But the real drama starts with an excellent opening over bowled by khaleel ahmed. He took a wicket without conceding a run. Anrich Nortje then took Shubman Gill’s wicket following Kuldeep Yadav bowled slow and loopy and hurried David Miller to take a shot and it ended up in a wicket with clean bowled. Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav blocked the GT scoring runs in the middle overs.
Ishant Sharma Heroics- Knuckleball & Final Over Magic
Ishant Sharma, 34 years old, turned the match by taking an important Vijay Shankar’s wicket with a surprising knuckleball which foxed Vijay totally and bowled him. Dale Steyn called it the “best knuckleball wicket” on Twitter. Following that Anrich Nortje bowled the penultimate over and Tewatia smashed 3 sixes who is currently one of the best finishers in the IPL.
Ishant Sharma, the hero of the match bowled the final over with only 12 runs to defend. At the other end, Hardik Pandya scored an excellent 50 and was waiting to finish the match. But Ishant Sharma only gave 3 runs in 2 balls. The next 4 balls are going to be faced by Tewati who has already cleared the ropes 3 times. But Ishant Sharma delivered the yorker which Tewatia missed to hit and the very next ball Tewatia got out on a slow length delivery. In the last 2 balls 9 runs is needed and Rashid Khan is on the strike who couldn’t take GT to the finishing line.
Ishant Sharma not only pulled the stunning win for DC but also gave hope for Delhi to stay alive in the competition. Heroics isn’t about age but delivering under the pressure situations which Ishant Sharma has done. Ishant Sharma’s performance will always be remembered by the DC and it inspire others to give come back even at the end of their career.
No Change But A Huge Impact
It was only GT’s second loss in 14 run-chases and also it didn’t make any changes in the points table but definitely made a huge impact on DC’s performance this season. But GT have to rethink how to win the low-scoring matches since the playoff and finals are to be held in Ahmedabad.
