Pooran ordered 15 pizzas that cost him INR 15,000.
Nicholas Pooran was among the 11 players to have bagged a deal of INR 10 crore or more in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction. The left-handed batter endured a horrendous campaign in IPL 2021 and couldn’t do much in the recently-concluded ODI series against India either. However, the wicketkeeper-batter was highly in demand due to his track record in the format.
After a stiff battle with several franchises, Sunrisers Hyderabad eventually signed Pooran for a whopping INR 10.75 crore. Elated by the hefty contract, the Caribbean star gave his teammates a pizza party inside the bio-bubble, ordering 15 pizzas that cost him INR 15,000. Notably, Pooran is currently with the West Indies squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against India.
“It needed to be vetted by a qualified chef. Since it’s a strict grade one bio bubble we have to tell the food temperature and how it is sanitized and then only it goes to the room. There were a total of 15 pizza boxes and everything was sanitized before being delivered to the room. The player had to make the payment,” added the manager.
Nicholas Pooran faced a mild shock
Meanwhile, it was also revealed that Pooran received a mild electric shock a day after the pizza party. As his charger wasn’t working, he called for a spare one which was sanitized before reaching him. As the charger wasn’t dried up properly, the southpaw received a mild shock when he plucked it inside the socket.
“When he put it in the socket, he was shaken by a mild shock. Sanitiser contains alcohol and probably it did not dry up properly when he plugged it to get a jolt,” said the team manager.
