The Punjab Kings franchise (PBKS) has appointed Mayank Agarwal as their leader for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season. Mayank will take the responsibility from his opening partner KL Rahul, who will captain the new IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Mayank has been with the Punjab Kings franchise since the IPL 2018 season. He has been the best top-order batsman for the PBKS franchise along with Kannur Lokesh Rahul (KL Rahul). When KL was the skipper of the PBKS Franchise, Agarwal served the team as the deputy (vice-captain). Mayank also captained the franchise team when Rahul wasn’t available, and he was one of the two players who was retained by the PBKS team for the IPL 2022 season.
Anil Kumble, the head coach of the Punjab Kings franchise, said that Agarwal had been an integral part of the franchise since the 2018 season, and he is also a part of the leadership group for two years. The new team selected in the mega auction this year is mixed with the experienced players and talented youth.
The PBKS franchise is looking to build a strong foundation with Mayank Agarwal, who is a hard-working athlete, a team player, and he has all the qualities to be the captain of this team.
