Chennai super kings is the first team to qualify for the finals in IPL 2023. CSK won the battle against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday MAY 23, 2023. There are many rumors that this is the last season for MS Dhoni. Be it the First time or last time Dhoni will always be active in the field and drive his team with his mastermind captainship.
CSK Put 173 On Board
Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bowl first. CSK in-form batters Gaikwad and Conway started their innings. Where the first few overs were quite dull for CSK and silence remained in the crowd without any boundaries. Adding to this, Ruturaj may be gone for only 2 runs in an attempt to go over the midwicket and caught by Gill. Immediately Gill started to celebrate but the Umpire’s Noball call made CSK fans roar soundly. Gaikwad had a little bit of luck and managed to get important 60 runs for Chennai.
GT Bowlers Pressured The CSK Batters
After the steady start Gaikwad fell on Mohit Sharma’s slower length ball and following this Noor Ahmad bowled the Shivam Dube. The purple cap holder Shami got the Conway’s wicket who played under the immense pressure and failed to convert his 40 into a big score. Darshan Nalkande took the huge wicket of Rahane with the strike rate of 170. CSK once again struggled with losing 4 wickets less than 100 runs. Then their star player Jadedja joined hands with Rayudu and added some valuable runs for CSK. Finally CSK ended up with 172 runs.
How Gujarat Titans Lost Their Momentum In Chase
Then the most successful chasing team Gujarat Titans started off slowly with searching for boundaries in the initial overs. Saha departed very early in the chase. Deepak Chahar is the man who again striked in the powerplay. Hardik Pandya, the GT captain took the responsibility on his shoulders with Gill to chase the target but was deceived by the Theekshana in an attempt to cut short and caught by Jadeja. Before this ball, Dhoni swapped the fielders in the off side which instantly worked for MSD.

Dasun Shanaka & Shubman Gill are now under more pressure to stop the wicket flow for GT. Shanaka started to attack Deekshana and made CSK fans worry. Then Jadeja turned the match with some unexpected turns by taking the wickets of Shanaka and Killer-Miller. Miller can’t believe that he was out. Jadeja, the man with his magical spin, knocked the miller and changed the momentum to the CSK side.
MS Dhoni Fielding Setup & Rashid Khan Counter Attack
The last stage of the run chase was carried by Shubman Gill & Tewati, who was well-known for finishing. But the Theekshana again took the crucial wicket of Tewati and put the CSK on the comfortable cushion. MS Dhoni once again rotated the field and brought Deepak Chahar back into the attack which put a checkmate to the Gill innings with a slow bouncer. Then the last 2 batters Vijay Shankar and Rashid Khan kept the Gujarat’s alive in the match for a few overs. But Vijay also falls and headache is now moved to Rashid Khan. He managed to hiit some sixes and boundaries. But Dhoni’s off side field setup forced Rashid Khan to make a mistake and threw his wicket. Finally CSK took all 10 wickets of Gujarat and entered into the finals for the 10th time. CSK is now waiting for the another finalist.
