Delhi Capitals Captain David Warner got into his normal zone after 5 matches by scoring 57 off 41 balls with 11 boundaries at the strike rate of 140 in the IPL 2023 as the hosts got to their first win of the tournament against Kolkata Knight Riders while chasing the 128 in New Delhi on April 20.

In the first 5 matches David Warner scored 228 runs at the strike rate of 116 however, not at the fast pace at which he would like to. The main reason behind his dip in SR is because other batters of DC are not doing well. David Warner was also under the scanner as many experts criticized him for being slow and putting other batters under pressure to get runs. However, after the Capitals registered their first win of the IPL 2023 season against the Kolkata Knight Riders last night (APR 20, 2023).
Warner Escaped From The Continuous Threat
Warner Scored 57 Runs in the last match with 140 strike rate made him answer the questions thrown at him by many experts. Speaking at the post-match, Warner said:
There’s going to be a lot of critiques out there to suggest that I haven’t been batting the way I normally bat. But when you lose three wickets in a row in two overs and I have faced three balls what would you do? You can’t do anything. You have some sense of responsibility.
Today I felt like my match ups were there, and I will take the power play on and we didn’t lose wickets in clumps in the first two overs. I felt like I had my rhythm back again, I had a good couple of net sessions
Warner also admitted that chasing a low total was not easy for Delhi Capitals after losing five games in a row. DC are rooted at the bottom of the IPL standings, with two points from six matches.
Delhi Capitals will next take on Warner’s former team SunRisers Hyderabad on April 24 which will be an interesting battle.
