The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) faced Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) in the Match 15 of IPL 2023. Harshal Patel who bowled an excellent last over but missed to run out Ravi Bishnoi at the non-striker’s end before the last ball of the match. Harshal’s miss was costly as Lucknow scored the remaining one run on the final ball to win the match. It creates many debate and controversies among the cricket fans and as well as cricket specialists
Most nervous and dramatic last ball finish happened in the game between RCB & LSG On APR 10, 2023, At Chinnaswamy Stadium Bangalore. RCB started their innings with a superb batting performance by their top 3 batters KGF (Kohli, Glen Maxwell & Faf Du Plessis) with posting a total of 212. LSG was under the pressure in the powerplay with losing 3 wickets less than 50 runs. But when the Stoinis and Pooran came in the fate of the match was changed and it belonged to LSG. Stoinis scored 65 in just 30 balls and Nicolas Pooran played a blinder knock with hitting 50 of only 15 balls. Ayush Badoni also helped the LSG to chase this target. Then the drama begins, Pooran caught in the deep square leg and Badoni unfortunately hit the stumps while attempting to hit the winning runs for LSG. In the final over LSG needed 5 runs and Harshal Patel took the match to the last ball. 1 run needed from 1 ball and Harshal patel tried to run out the non striker who got out of the crease very early. But he failed to do it and LSG wins the match in the last ball
What Ben Stokes Said On Twitter
Ben Stokes came up with an idea of 6 penalty runs to the batting team when the non-striker left the crease early. It will stop this issue and all the controversy. Initially Harsha Bogle on Twitter said that why shouldn’t bowler run out the Batter who is leaving the crease earlier.
Thought’s Harsha?
Umpires discretion.. 6 penalty runs if obviously trying to gain unfair advantage by leaving crease early?
Would stop batters doing it without all the controversy https://t.co/xjK7Bnw0PS— Ben Stokes (@benstokes38) April 10, 2023
