Right then, that is it from this absolute run-fest where Durban's Super Giants just managed to get the better of MI Cape Town with some help from the rain as well. The action in the SA20 2024 continues as Paarl Royals take on Pretoria Capitals at 9 pm IST (3.30 pm GMT), but as you know, you can always join us early for all the build-up to the game. Until then, cheers and goodbye!
Heinrich Klaasen is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his smashing match-winning knock.
Earlier in the game, MI Cape Town posted a big total on the board courtesy of a stunning knock of 87 off just 51 balls from Ryan Rickelton along with late fireworks from Liam Livingstone and Kieron Pollard. Keemo Paul picked up a couple of wickets for Durban's Super Giants while except for Reece Topley and Prenelan Subrayen, all the other bowlers chipped in with one each. While chasing, it was the Heinrich Klaasen show which made this chase look like a cakewalk.
MI Cape Town, on the other hand, will be a bit disappointed with their bowling effort. They managed to make early inroads through Kagiso Rabada who sent QDK back while Beuran Hendricks also picked up one. However, then they had no answers to the punishment from Heinrich Klaasen who took them to the cleaners on will. He almost single-handedly took the game away from them but it was Rabada again who got his all-important wicket just before the rain came to stop the match at 16.3 overs. Sam Curran and Olly Stone also chipped in with one each. However, the onslaught from Klaasen and the rain made sure that they did not get anything out of this game.
Durban's Super Giants couldn't get to the start they would have hoped for as they lost their star opener, Quinton de Kock quite early. They sent Keemo Paul up the order but that didn't work as they lost three wickets inside seven overs. Matthew Breetzke played well for his 39 and supported Heinrich Klaasen who went berserk at the other end. Pooran couldn't make much impact. Klaasen reached his half-century in just 25 balls but did not stop there. He went on to smash a total of 8 sixes combined with 4 boundaries before being dismissed on 85 off just 35 balls. His show-stealing knock helped his team get ahead on DLS just before the rain came to halt proceedings. We could not get any more action after that which means that the Super Giants started their campaign with a victory.
It's official! Not the news we were hoping for, but we won't be getting any further action here. An anti-climatic end to a fantastic cricket match. Durban's Super Giants win this one by 11 runs (DLS) thanks to that sensational Heinrich Klaasen knock. MI Cape Town will disappointed that they are going empty-handed, as they also played some really good cricket here.
UPDATE - 1.12 am IST (7.42 pm GMT, Previous Day) - The intensity of the rain has slowed down a bit, but there is a consistent drizzle going on. Time is running out and all we can do is wait and hope that we get to see a proper finish in this game. These two sides have played some entertaining cricket here and this one deserves to be decided on the field rather than on DLS. Fingers crossed.
Oh..no! The rain has gotten heavier and the umpires have given the marching order to the players. The ground staff bring on the covers now as it starts to pour. Kieron Pollard has a chat with Dwaine Pretorius as he is not happy with the time taken that the batters took before the umpires call for the covers. The DLS par score after 16.3 overs is 166. So, Durban's Super Giants are 11 runs ahead and we have around one hour before we start losing overs. However, whatever happens, we will get a winner in this game. Stay tuned for further updates.

Strategic-Break! A massive moment in the game as MI Cape Town managed to get rid of Heinrich Klaasen who was looking really threatening here. This could prove to be the turning point in this game. However, Durban's Super Giants need 34 runs in 25 balls which is very much gettable if they bat a bit sensibly. Cape Town will hope to get a couple of more wickets quickly to get a firm grip on the game. There is a bit of rain around and the Super Giants are ahead on DLS. Also, Prenelan Subrayen comes out to the middle now.

OUT! CAUGHT! The wicket that stood between MI Cape Town and the victory is not gone. Heinrich Klaasen walks back after playing a destructive innings of 85. Kagiso Rabada bowls a low full toss outside the line of the off stumps and Heinrich Klaasen launches it hard but is not able to get the right distance, in the end hits it straight down the throat of Sam Curran at long off. Big wicket for MI Cape Town.

SIX! That is his SIX number 8. Heinrich Klaasen striking hard. Easy pickings for Heinrich Klaasen as Kagiso Rabada bowls a fulltoss on the middle stump line and Heinrich Klaasen pulls it away for a huge six.
Good news for Durban's Super Giants as Keshav Maharaj is padded up and can bat if needed.
